Venue: Fairview International School Penang
Dates: 10-11 September 2011
Workshop Leader: Richel Langit Dursin, IB Educator
My participation in the “Teaching and Learning in the PYP” workshop organised by the IBO was a fruitful one. This workshop focuses more on the Taught curriculum component of the PYP model and seeks to provide some answers to the question “How best will we learn?” (IBO: 2012) We, the participants, were introduced to a variety of practical teaching strategies that will assist us in facilitating differentiated inquiry learning in our classrooms.
“Two Truths and a Lie”
We started the two-day workshop with this activity wherein we had to write 3 statements about ourselves (2 of which are true and 1 is a lie). We then get to share with our co-participants and they guess which one is the lie.
“Essential Agreements”
As most workshop, we also came up with essential agreements for our workshop. Instead of the normal way of creating these agre ements, though, we were assigned a PYP Attitude or IB Learner profile with which to base our agreement with. Me and my partner got creativity.
